Bent Polishingīent Polishing has been a part of our chapter initiation for some years now. Refer to the Point Tracking Sheet to check the number of points you’ve earned. Check the newsletter, and calendar for opportunities to earn points. You must earn at least 1 point from each category: social, professional, and service. You will need a total of 6 points to initiate. Make sure to take a screenshot of the payment and email it to Arya ( See the Initiate Handbook linked above for a breakdown of the fee. This can be submitted through the TBP store. There is an initiation fee of $100 that must be turned in by Friday, September 29th, 2023. Sign ups will be sent out in the newsletter. Interviews will be scheduled for weeknights, September 5th to September 15th (excluding Saturday, and Sunday). It will last for 15 minutes and take place in-person in our office. The purpose of the interview is not to judge your eligibility to be inducted into Tau Beta Pi, but to allow our current members and board members to know you better. You will be asked to have an interview with our current members. You’ll meet your fellow initiates and the officer board while bowling, playing pool and board games. This lack of inclusivity is a major concern, as it means that certain individuals may be excluded from the benefits of membership based on their race, gender, or other factors. In fact, the society is not currently certified as an Inclusive Honor Society, as reported by the Honor Society Foundation. However, it is important to consider the potential issues of systemic bias and social injustice that Alpha Phi Sigma has demonstrated. On the surface, these benefits may seem worth the cost of membership. In return, members receive access to scholarships, networking opportunities, and recognition for their academic achievements. Additionally, members are required to maintain a 3.2 GPA in their criminal justice courses and have completed at least four courses in the field. According to their website, the one-time membership fee is $75, and there is an additional $35 fee for a lifetime membership certificate. However, the question remains: is it worth it? Specifically, is it worth the financial cost of joining Alpha Phi Sigma, the National Criminal Justice Honor Society?įirst, let’s examine the cost of membership.
